The Florida scorpion is one of the most visually alarming arachnids in existence.  With 10 legs, 5 sets of eyes and a length of up to 4 inches, its no wonder why they are one of the creepiest crawlers in Central Florida.  You may find scorpions in and around your home scavenging through the night.  Beware of dark spaces and attics.  These are two of the scorpions’ favorite places to hide.  Also look out for them in mulch and even in your shoes!!  Don’t expect these terrifying creatures to disappear anytime soon.  They’re the oldest knows arthropods on Earth and have been around for 430 million years!!!

FREAKY FACTOID:  Scorpions GLOW under UV lights!  Their exoskeletons contain a protein that glows a blue-green color when exposed to ultraviolet radiation.  YIKES!!!
